Cancer Sux
Balloon Release
Please wait for me .. there at the gate.
And let me in .. my closest friend.
Our good friend, neighbor and Oncology nurse, Linda Hutchinson
would tie yellow balloons to trees and signs along the road
when Dad was returning home from a hospital stay.
He always looked for them during the ride.
The balloons let everyone know that he had won
another round in his fight with Cancer!
Dad survived 396 days from the day of his diagnosis. Family and friends joined forces to release balloons at Dad's funeral as a tribute to the fact
that he was TRULY going home.
Each year we release 396 yellow balloons while BONEPONY plays
their song SWEET BYE AND BYE for us live. We encourage you all to take
part and pay tribute to loved ones you have lost for any reason.
Each balloon released has a numbered return tag on it. The tag lets people
know about the Cancer Sux event, and encourages them to return any tags they
might find. The tag returned from greatest distance earns a prize!!
We will send a FREE Cancer Sux concert t-shirt to the person returning a balloon
tag from the greatest distance (per MapQuest) as well as
one to the person who registered the balloon !!
Each balloon only costs $2 to register
